Since 1989, Bridgeway Academy has been designing personalized, innovative education solutions that unlock student potential.

About Us

Bridgeway Academy was founded in 1989 in response to the need for more freedom in education and the protection that accreditation offers for homeschooling families. Since then, more than 30,000 K-12 students, and many charter and brick-and-mortar schools, have made Bridgeway Academy their trusted education partner.

“I am constantly amazed at how fearfully and wonderfully we are made. Our design impacts who we are, how we learn, what we believe, and how we process information. And when we can better understand ourselves and others, we are better prepared to motivate and engage with others.”

Meet Our Teachers

Kimberly Bennett

Live Online Lead Teacher

I began teaching in public schools in 1995 and have taught online since 2012. I joined Bridgeway Academy in 2016 and love the care and concern we show our students. One reason that I love teaching Live Online Classes is giving students the ability to connect with, and learn from, others who may live across the continent or the world.

I hold a B.S. in Human Learning & Licensure, and a M.A. in Educational Technology.

Carla Berg

I have spent the last 11 years teaching science and math to students between second and eleventh grades. I taught 3 years in a traditional classroom setting and 8 years in an online setting. I have taught Algebra, Physical Science, Biology, Honors Biology, Chemistry and General Science. I lives with my husband and two kids in Connecticut. We love to go to the beach and explore new things. On a typical weekend I spend time at my son’s hockey game, my daughter’s soccer game and time hiking or playing outside.
I hold a B.S. in Marine Science.

Katrina Brown

I have been teaching in varying roles for the past 26 years–from teaching in a school classroom, to teaching my own seven children at home, to teaching in and helping to coordinate homeschool groups, to tutoring students one-on-one (both face-to-face and virtually)! Each of these teaching roles comes with a unique set of challenges and rewards. I especially resonate with those who homeschool, because I believe strongly in family and in individuality in learning, which are so strongly fostered here particularly! I hold both a B.S. degree (Education and Theology) and an M.A. (Counseling), and am currently working on completing my M.Ed degree.

Rhonda Dausman

I taught in a public middle school setting for 20 years. Ten years ago, I took a break from teaching when my husband took a job as a pastor and I became a stay-at-home mom. I love being able to connect with students all over the world and share my love of learning.

I hold a B.S. in Elementary Education and a B.S. in Special Education.

Melissa Lindahl

I have been a science teacher for many years and have developed a true passion for non-traditional learning and Christian education. It is so exciting to be able to teach a course on a weekly basis to students who live far away from my Buffalo, NY home. Meet Our Advisors

Daniel Amon

Director of Advising

I have taught in the traditional classroom and in the online environment for middle school, high school, and college-level classes for 14 years. My favorite part of teaching with Bridgeway is getting to know and connecting with the fantastic students and families we have!

I hold a Master of Education degree in Mathematics and an MBA.

Christie Curtis

I worked with an accounting firm up until our oldest daughter arrived. My husband and I both were both fortunate to have a stay-at-home parent and we wanted the same for our children. Instead of public school, we decided to try homeschooling. We started in kindergarten and have stayed the course. We have graduated our oldest, and our second child will graduate within the year. I have always pieced different curriculum together as curriculum was chosen based on our daughters’ learning styles. Best decision we have ever made. I love working with our families to help them succeed and be prepared for the next phase of life after high school.

I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology.

Kristin Douglas

I taught kindergarten, second grade, and third grade for 10 years. Leaving the classroom has allowed me to teach my own three children, and I love it! I truly enjoy coming alongside and helping families who are embarking on this same homeschooling journey.

I hold a B.S. in Elementary Education and a M.Ed. in Elementary Education.

Cortney D’Amato

I have a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology and started my career in 2011 as a public school counselor, working with K-12 students at varying times. I found exactly what I was looking for at Bridgeway Academy. I love being able to help each family on an individual level, and I have the support and encouragement from my staff at Bridgeway to be innovative and to do whatever it takes to help each of our students succeed!

I taught first and third graders in public school for nine years. I left teaching when I had my daughter and started working for Bridgeway when she was 7 months old. Briana Temos

I worked in Alternative Education for four years, two years in an Emotional Support middle school classroom, and two years as a Mental Health worker for high school students. I’ve taken that passion and turned it into a way that I can spend more time with my daughters. I’ve been very lucky to coach their Girls on the Run team for the last six seasons. My passion for running has rubbed off on my children, and they have helped me incorporate that in the community!
