Born in Pennsylvania

Since 1989, Bridgeway Academy has been designing personalized, innovative education solutions that unlock student potential.

About Us

Bridgeway Academy was founded in 1989 in response to the need for more freedom in education and the protection that accreditation offers for homeschooling families. Since then, more than 30,000 K-12 students, and many charter and brick-and-mortar schools, have made Bridgeway Academy their trusted education partner.

“I am constantly amazed at how fearfully and wonderfully we are made. Our design impacts who we are, how we learn, what we believe, and how we process information. And when we can better understand ourselves and others, we are better prepared to motivate and engage with others.”

Jessica Parnell, CEO of Bridgeway

Meet Our Teachers

Kimberly Bennett

I began teaching in public schools in 1995 and have taught online since 2012. I joined Bridgeway Academy in 2016 and love the care and concern we show our students. One reason that I love teaching Live Online Classes is giving students the ability to connect with, and learn from, others who may live across the continent or the world.

I hold a B.S. in Human Learning & Licensure, and a M.A. in Educational Technology.

Carla Berg

I have spent the last 13 years teaching science and math to students between second and eleventh grades. I spent three years teaching in a traditional classroom setting and eight years in an online setting. The subjects I’ve taught include algebra, physical science, biology, Honors biology, chemistry, and general science.

My husband, two kids, and I live in Connecticut. We love to go to the beach and explore new things. On a typical weekend, my time is spent time at my son’s hockey games or daughter’s soccer games, hiking, or playing outside. I’m very excited to get to know all of you and share my love of science and math with you!

I hold a B.S. in Marine Science.

Katrina Brown

I have been teaching in varying roles for the past 26 years–from teaching in a school classroom, to teaching my own seven children at home, to teaching in and helping to coordinate homeschool groups, to tutoring students one-on-one (both face-to-face and virtually)! Each of these teaching roles comes with a unique set of challenges and rewards. I especially resonate with those who homeschool, because I believe strongly in family and in individuality in learning, which are so strongly fostered here particularly! I hold both a B.S. degree (Education and Theology) and an M.A. (Counseling), and am currently working on completing my M.Ed degree.

Rhonda Dausman

I taught in a public middle school setting for 20 years. Ten years ago, I took a break from teaching when my husband took a job as a pastor and I became a stay-at-home mom. I’ve lived in states along the East Coast from New York to Georgia. Currently I live on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and homeschool my two daughters! I love being able to connect with students all over the world and share my love of learning.

I hold a B.S. in Elementary Education and a B.S. in Special Education.

Angela Ellis

Hello! My name is Angela Ellis. I’ve been teaching math since 1995 and teaching online courses since 2005. I love teaching math online because I enjoy the process of building a little learning community of students from all different places. I love to help students discover math ideas together.

Jean Gierbolini

I have taught in traditional and online classrooms for 10 years, and I joined Bridgeway Academy in 2018. I love connecting with students from all over the world and exploring new ways to integrate technology and learning.

I hold a B.S. in Elementary Education, an M.S. in Reading, and an M.S. in Learning Design and Technology.

Bonnie Foster

I hold a B.A. in Mathematics and I have spent the last 18 years working in education in one form or another, serving students in middle school up through college. I’ve spent 12 of those years teaching every levels from 7th grade through AP Calculus AB in a variety of settings, including public, private, charter, and college. I love helping students unlock the language of math and fall in love with the predictability of it.

My husband, four sons, and I live in California with our family dog. We love summer road trips, seeing state capitals, and trying new outdoor adventures. I’m excited to get to know each one of you and share my love of math with you!

Renae Green

I have been an educator for 29 combined years, including public, private, and home education. I’m also a professional writer with over 30 books (two of them bestsellers) and hundreds of articles published. My teaching style is part Miss Frizzle, part Night at the Museum, as I seek to engage students with laughter and learning. I live in Texas with my handsome, country-boy husband, four nearly perfect children, two dogs, a bunch of chickens, and one lonely duck.

I hold a B.A. in Elementary Education and English.

Fateca Grant

Hello, my name is Mrs. Fateca Grant and I bring you greetings from Vicksburg, Mississippi, where I have taught science for over six years. I have earned both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Biological Sciences along with my Specialist in Educational Leadership. I am very excited about teaching online because it provides more of an opportunity for students to think outside the box and to learn at their own pace.

Melissa Lindahl

I have been a science teacher for many years and have developed a true passion for non-traditional learning and Christian education. It is so exciting to be able to teach a course on a weekly basis to students who live far away from my Buffalo, NY home. I love to teach students, and by using an online platform I am able to reach them no matter where they live, and hopefully infect them with a love for learning about science.

I hold a B.S. in Science and an M.S. in Secondary Education.

Courtney Markiewicz

I have taught middle school math for 14 years. I love helping homeschooling families understand and have fun with math. I attended Carlow University, where I earned a B.S. in Mathematics with credentials to teach secondary math. I also earned my Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Middle Grades instruction from National Louis University.

Courtney Medel

After earning my B.A. in English Literature, I traveled to South America to teach English as a Second Language. This experience made me realize I loved working in the classroom and inspired me to earn my Master’s degree in Education, specializing in Cross-Cultural Teaching. Since then, I have taught a variety of literature and writing courses, working with students ranging from kindergarten to high school. Some of my favorite teaching experiences have been working in alternative settings, such as teaching English literature to homeschooled students or working as a multi-subject private tutor.

Paula Sanchez

My love of teaching has spanned 27 years! With a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a Master of Science degree in Educational Media Design and Technology, I enjoy the best of both worlds – teaching science while using technology, both in person and virtually. I enjoy the personal connections made with students in both homeschool and online settings, and believe all students learn best when provided the right tools.

Amy Santos

I homeschooled my kids for 10 years, and I taught math at Siena College. Homeschooling is the most worthwhile thing I’ve done. I love helping others homeschool their kids, and this is my dream job!

I hold a B.S. in Applied Mathematics and an M.A. in Mathematics

Jason Torres

I have been teaching online courses for 13 years, mostly technology courses. Technology is my favorite subject, as you can probably tell since I’m teaching programming courses here at Bridgeway! I love teaching online because it allows me to help a wide variety of students in many different locations and many different situations.

I hold a B.A. in Secondary English Education and an M.A. in Instructional Technology/Media.

Nicole Wiemann

I hold a B.A. in Spanish/French Education and an M.S. in Language Education

Nicole Wilkins
