A Deeper Dive Into Part-Time Homeschooling

If you’ve given any thought to homeschooling your children on a part-time basis, you’re not alone. But what exactly is part-time homeschooling? It’s a scenario where you’re homeschooling your student(s) for part of their course load, and the rest of their course work is taught outside the home (we’ll get into specifics later in this post).

We’ve already covered some reasons why it could be a good fit for you, like accountability, subject-specific help, and stress. Here, we’ll provide some more information and show you how Bridgeway Academy can help you make the transition should you decide to go that route.

Whatever your situation, understand that it’s perfectly OK to seek teaching help if you need it. Homeschooling your kids is a full-time job itself, not to mention everything else that’s on your plate. It’s OK to seek help.

Some homeschooling parents may feel guilty for giving part of their teaching duties away. I can’t really tell you not to feel guilty, but I will anyway because you’re already a superhero. Even superheroes have their limits. Part-time homeschooling doesn’t make you any less of a superhero. So, rather than experiencing any pangs of guilt or stress, think about all the positives of letting someone (like Bridgeway) help with your homeschooling. As previously mentioned, having your student receive some education outside of the home helps build accountability, independence, and relationships. It may reduce your stress level, which is obviously important, not only for your mental health, but also your physical well-being. That will help you dedicate some time to other things in your life while also allowing you to be even more committed to the subjects that you will continue teaching.

Now, let’s talk about part-time homeschooling options. You’ve decided which subjects you will continue to teach…who’s teaching the rest? Fortunately, you have some choices.

  • Public or private school. All school districts have different rules, so if you’re interested in putting your child into part-time public school, you’ll need to check with your district to see what their rules and regulations are. Many private schools will accept part-time students, so check with any private institutions you’re interested in to see what their policies are.
  • Live Online Classes. Our Live Online Classes are taught by certified instructors who also handle the responsibilities of grading and providing feedback. The classes also feature computer-based activities as well as the ability to interact with other students, make presentations, and other real-world skills that students may not otherwise get at home.
  • Individual classes. You can purchase individual courses for grades 1 through 12 with Bridgeway’s self-paced option.
  • Elephango! If you’re not familiar with Elephango, it’s a fantastic online learning resource that makes an ideal homeschooling curriculum companion.

Bridgeway is also proud to offer so many options for homeschooling, whether it’s full-time or part-time. Our full-time private schooling option is fully accredited for PreK through 12th grade and provides the perks of a private school in the convenience of a homeschool setting, complete with an academic advisor to help you every step of the way.

Full-time homeschooling is difficult for everyone, for various reasons. Regardless of the situation you’re in, remember that help is available and that part-time homeschooling is an extremely viable (and beneficial) option. Whether you choose to supplement your student’s homeschooling with our Live Online Classes, companions like Elephango, or other means, there are solutions out there for you. Let Bridgeway help you navigate the waters.
