Accounting
Students gain a solid understanding of accounting practices, including systems of accounting, journal transactions, general ledgers and worksheets, proprietorships, adjusting closing entries, payroll records and payroll accounting. The course culminates with a business simulation activity where students gain experience in the practice of accounting.

A broad review of general math sets the stage for a study that helps the student apply learned skills to various practical situations in the home and business world. Students master concepts such as checkbook reconciliation, budget preparation, calculation of discounts and insurance acquisition.

Essentials of Business
This online course consists of a series of topics designed to prepare the student for effective business practice. Building Relationships covers building strong networks, effective communication with different types of people, building bridges and improving business relationships. Business Ethics provides a common-sense, practical approach to doing good work, emphasizing the need for people to prepare in advance for ethical dilemmas. Customer Service is designed to help users create and maintain good customer service. And Dealing with Difficult People presents strategies for handling interpersonal tension in the workplace.
Effective Business Communication and Presentations
(Best when coupled with Grammar)
This series teaches the writing skills learners will need to effectively communicate in a business setting. They’ll learn how to prepare for a writing task and about strategies and skills for effective word choice, sentence building and paragraph design. Specific modules include planning, developing writing skills, development, writing letters, memos, emails, reports and documentation. The course concludes with a series on public speaking – a crucial element in career success. This series offers tips to help individuals prepare and deliver more powerful presentations.
Grammar
This series is designed for students who want to improve their grammar skills in a business setting. It examines sentence structure in detail, including parts of speech, subject/verb agreement, use of pronouns and irregular verbs. Punctuation is discussed, including the proper use of apostrophes, quotation marks, capital letters, numbers and abbreviations. Advanced topics include pronoun types, adjectives and adverbs, colons and semicolons, other punctuation and modifiers.
Home-based Business
This series offers guidance on starting and managing a home-based business. It provides an overview of the options available in creating a home-based business and how to evaluate these options. Topics related to financing are examined, including writing a business plan and preparing financial statements, evaluating financing options, planning for personal expenses and preparing for the loan application process. Office management considerations are covered, including equipment and insurance, hiring others, keeping the books and other tax considerations, and maintaining a professional image.
Technology
Computer Courses
Computer training courses are available in word processing, PhotoShop, databases, computer programming and much more. Ask your advisor for specific opportunities.
International Computer Drivers License -ICDL
We highly recommend that each high school student take this course. Not only will your child acquire necessary computer skills, but he or she will also gain the knowledge to pass the ICDL exam and gain certification.
1. This series of courses provides an overview of computer hardware, storage, software, and security and copyright considerations. It also provides introductory instruction on using a personal computer, managing files and using various PC applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases and presentations as well as browser and electronic mail applications.
2. This series is designed to give the student the required information needed to take and pass the ICDL exams from the ECDL Foundation Ltd.
Graphics Design – Photoshop
This 44 hour course series is designed for beginning and intermediate Photoshop users. It teaches users about image editing, what’s new in version 7, the Photoshop interface, pixels, saving and printing, using the tools, making and modifying selections, layers, creating text effects, filters, color correction, and web graphics. Ask your advisor for specific opportunities.
Technical Web Development Courses
Web design courses present concepts for designing and building Web sites, marketing and certification. They cover how to plan the structure of a Web site, maintaining the Web site files, and considering the affect that various browsers, monitors, and systems can have on the display of a site.
Strategies for making a site download quickly and display well across all browsers and systems are presented, along with creating color schemes, backgrounds, GIF transparencies, and image maps.
Web Development is a growing field; therefore, there are over 30 different subjects and certification courses to choose from covering topics from the use of HTML and graphics for formatting and layout to other useful tools such as frames, animated GIFs, dynamic HTML, JavaScript, QuickTime, Flash, and Shockwave.
General Business
A study introducing the upper-level high school student to the world of business: markets, consumer studies, advertising, corporations and industries, careers in business, production, labor, federal control, international business, banking and finance.

Life Skills
Foundations for Living (AOP) Training students in a Biblical world view and preparing them to stand strong are important in today’s culture. This course trains students by presenting Biblical presuppositions, doctrine, God’s creation, the family, marriage, counseling in relationships from engagement to marriage, Christian education, politics and the arts.
Successful Living
The course provides in-depth training in relating to authority, making right choices and choosing a mate. Students also study tactics in maintaining good health, strategies for money management and principles for a happy marriage. Students arealso prepared for life with a study of business principles, handling criticism, overcoming temptation and self-control.

A terrific elective for students who want to gain practical math skills. Concepts covered include personal finance, statistics, taxes and insurance, banking, investments, credit and interest, buying and selling, leisure, travel, retirement and job-related services.

Another outstanding elective designed to prepare students for life. Budgeting Money
This series is designed to teach money management and investing skills to help the average person get the greatest return for his or her money. The series is for users who wish to learn how to control debt,
choose credit and banking accounts wisely, and create a solid plan for retirement. A current survey indicated this subject is not discussed in most families. This is why a lot of young people struggle the first couple of years from home.
Health
Health (AOP)
Covering such topics as body essentials and physical, social and mental health, this course provides students with a look at maintaining good health and the factors that threaten it. Other topics include first aid, preventive health care and responsible living.

This course provides an in-depth look at fitness, exercise, posture, weight control, infectious diseases, mental disorders and handling stress. American Literature (AOP)
Covering American literary periods such as colonial literature to the romantic period, war time to the modern and post-modern ages, this half-credit course is a focused look at the great writers of America and their contributions to classic literature.

Essentials of Communication
A study of communication and speech, this course provides training in the characteristics of language, interpersonal skills and understanding your audience, as well as writing and presenting speeches. An essential part of every high school student’s education.
Anthropology and Sociology
The study of anthropology includes a study of the nature and origin of man and the fall, as well as the mission and the culture of man. The study of sociology covers man in groups, the anthropology and sociology of the United States, and man and the Earth. Students are challenged to apply what they are learning to current situations and to think critically about what they are learning in relation to a changing society.
Foreign Language I-IV
This course introduces the student to the pronunciation, grammar and accidence of their chosen foreign language. The course is an immersion approach to the language and includes dialogues, retention activities, grammar and culture studies, as well as interactive capabilities that evaluate student pronunciation and understanding. Languages available include Spanish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Dutch, English, Chinese and Arabic.

Fine Arts
Art (AOP)
For the student who enjoys art and wishes to pursue it further, this course covers concepts in design, principles of color and design personality. Other principles include figure drawing, sculpture, comics, printmaking and calligraphy. Students also gain instruction in art masters and art appreciation.

Art in Focus
Art in Focus presents the most engaging, relevant and comprehensive art history program for today’s high school students. Art enriches the learning experience and allows for discovery and problem solving. Students will experience the ways that art reflects the social, political, historical and cultural advances of society and how these advances have influenced art across the centuries as well as in contemporary times.

The half-credit music course presents students with instruction in the various kinds of instruments and teaches how to read music and how to find notes on a keyboard. The course continues to engage the student in recognizing notes, key signaturesand time signatures. The course also includes biographies of well-known composers.

Bible
New Testament Survey
A course designed to introduce the student to the penman, the place, the period, the problem, the peculiarities, the purpose and the plan of each book. This course contains a special project the student must do before he can complete the test.

Old Testament Survey
A comprehensive course that provides a book-by-book overview of the Old Testament. The chronology, history, setting and content of each Old Testament book are examined in such a way that increases the student’s comprehension. Of special interest are Old Testament covenants and time periods.

New Testament Church History
A fascinating study tracing the roots of church history. The approach develops in the student an appreciation of the role of the church from its earliest days. Intended for the upper-level high school student, the subject matter explains God’s plan for the formation and spread of the church
and the extension of the Gospel.

Life of Christ
Written on the senior high school level, this course will greatly increase the student’s understanding of the Gospels. As he studies the background of the Gospels; the world as it was in Christ’s day; the Jews, their characteristics, habits; and aspect of Christ’s life, ministry, death and resurrection, he gains insights that will enhance his personal walk with the Savior.

Wisdom Inserts
All English I-IV (high school) courses include removable wisdom inserts. These inserts are completed in conjunction with each unit in English, and testing over the material is integrated into each final test.
ThThe wisdom inserts address issues such as love, decisionmaking, maturity and motivational gifts. The material is presented in a nonthreatening format that appeals to teens and is specifically designed to present a pattern for godly wisdom.
The student is encouraged to use the inserts to build a life notebook, or they may be used by the parent to form the basis for weekly devotional sessions. This emphasis on wisdom seeks to help the student further develop character and Biblical life principles.
Bible 11
Students explore the faithfulness of God, the book of Romans and the doctrine of Jesus Christ. They will also take a close look at the nation of Israel and the history of the Canon. Other topics include a study of friendship and dating, marriage and the pursuit of happiness. Students will also look at Solomon’s splendor and sin and the lessons available through his experience, as well as God’s word and how it applies to the Christian life. Bible 12
Knowing yourself is important to determining God’s purpose for your life. Therefore, this course begins by taking the students through exercises designed to provide insight into the task of knowing yourself. It continues with a look at the different areas of Christian ministry and takes the students through the steps of choosing a ministry. Students will also study the Trinity, the attributes of God, the epistles of James and John and a look at the life of Daniel.
