Below is a brief summary of the homeschooling law in New Mexico.
Compulsory School Age
“at least five years of age prior to 12:01am on September 1 of the school year” to age 18, unless the person has graduated from high school.

| Legal Option: | Establish and operate a home school |
| Attendance: | Same school year length as local public schools, which is a minimum of 181 days |
| Subjects: | Reading, language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science |
| Qualifications: | High school diploma or equivalent |
| Notice: | File notice of intent with the state superintendent within 30 days of establishing the home school and by April 1 of each subsequent year |
| Recordkeeping: | Maintain immunization records (a waiver may be obtained due to religious objections) |
| Testing: | None. |
