| Legal Option: | Establish and operate a home school |
| Attendance: | None |
| Subjects: | English (reading, composition, writing), math, science, social studies (history, geography, economics, government) as appropriate for the age and level of school of the child, as determined by the parent. *This does not require a parent to ensure that each subject area is taught each year that the child is homeschooled. |
| Qualifications: | None |
| Notice: | File a one-time notice with the local superintendent. The notice must include the name, age, and gender of the child; the name and address of each parent filing the notice of intent; a statement signed by the parent that he has legal control of the child and accepts responsibility for the child’s education; and an educational plan that fulfills the subject requirements above.
*The notice must be filed before beginning to homeschool the child or not later than 10 days after the child has been formally withdrawn from public school or not later than 30 days after establishing state residency. If the name or address of the parent or child changes the parent must file a new notice of intent with the superintendent of the school district in which the child resides within 30 days. |
