Compulsory School Age

Education Tax Credit Available to Homeschools in Illinois:
In 1999, the Illinois legislature passed an education tax credit that allows up to $500 in excess of expenses of $250 for tuition, book fees, and lab fees to be deducted from state income tax. This credit is available to any public or private school student. (Under Illinois law, homeschooled students have the same legal status as private school students.)
