“My son is learning disabled. Of all the curricula I ve tried, Bridgeway is the only one that has allowed him to learn and excel and feel good about himself. He loves it so much.”
Maria, Bridgeway Parent
Mathematics
The goals for our kindergarten children in mathematics include exploring numbers and operations, classification, time, value and measurement, problem solving and reasoning skills. The focus is on using graphs, discovering patterns, understanding the value of and counting coins, communicating mathematical thinking in written and oral forms and, most importantly, making connections between mathematical ideas and real-life experiences and mathematic proficiency. Other skills covered during the year include following directions, recognizing basic shapes, recognizing and understanding the value and one-to-one correspondence of numbers, the use of rote counting and counting of objects.
Hands-on activities include classroom manipulatives such as rulers, yardsticks, blocks, shape stamps, calendars, games and various teacher-created materials that are integral for student understanding.
